In Memory of Milo

Etch print, watercolour and gold acrylic paint

During the major lockdown of 2020, I lost my beloved cat of my childhood and was tasked to create art around something special, so I used his collar as inspiration. His collar is the only thing I have other than photos and memories, so it holds a lot of sentimental value. This piece was an experiment into the medium of etching and beginning an exploration into different types of printmaking. The texture that the etch leaves creates that hand-drawn aesthetic and helps to make it look more like my cat. I simply put a few washes of light watercolour and gave him life through the gold paint as highlights.
